In Virginia, Future I-66 (begins in Washington, DC) with the current I-66 until it reaches the state border with West Virginia (though this part of I-66 is not part of the TransAmerica Corridor in Virginia).

The TransAmerica Corridor begins at the deep water Port of Virginia near Norfolk, following the US 460 route (designated as Future I-50) across the southern part of the state. Once at Roanoke, the TransAmerica Corridor [I-50] will proceed north along an expanded US 220 until it reaches Clifton Forge. It will then follow I-64 until Beckley, West Virginia.

Note: In most cases, the I-66 and TransAmerica Corridor [I-50] routes upgrade highways or rural expressways that already exist.
