The TransAmerica Transportation Corridor in Kansas
Where does the proposed route go?
In Kansas, US 400 is upgraded as the TransAmerica Corridor [I-66], serving Wichita until it reaches Dodge City, where it continues on an upgraded US 400 designated as the TransAmerica Corridor [I-66], then to Garden City and Syracuse to the state line with Colorado.
Note: In most cases, the TransAmerica Corridor [I-66] upgrades highways or rural expressways that already exist. The current statutory route language approved by Congress on November 28th, 1995 has the East-West TransAmerica Corridor continuing southwest at US 54, heading down to I-40 via High Priority Corridor 51 (the Spirit Corridor). The above map envisions sharing a common corridor with High Priority Corridor 48 (the High Plains Corridor)
NEXT STATE: Colorado
