The TransAmerica Transportation Corridor in Colorado
Where does the proposed route go?
In Colorado, the TransAmerica Corridor [I-66] follows the upgraded US 400 and US 50 route from Granada to Lamar. It then follows US 10 from Hawley to Walsenburg, where it makes its way through the Rocky Mountains using US 160 to Fort Garland. The TransAmerica Corridor [I-66] follows the upgraded US 160 route passing the cities of Alamosa, Del Norte, South Fork, Pagosa Springs, Bayfield, until it reaches Durango. The TransAmerica Corridor [I-66] exits the state of Colorado using an upgraded US 550 designated as the TransAmerica Corridor [I-66].
Note: In most cases, the TransAmerica Corridor [I-66] upgrades highways or rural expressways that already exist. In Colorado, the TransAmerica Corridor crosses High Priority Corridor 38 (Ports to Plains Corridor) at roughly Lamar. The TransAmerica Corridor shares a common corridor with High Priority Corridor 48 (the High Plains Corridor) until La Junta.
